MIT Technologies, a leading provider of downhole intelligent products for the upstream oil and gas sector, proudly announces the inauguration of its cutting-edge Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Lab at its facility in Technology Park Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The event was officiated by His Excellency Gamal A. Metwally, Ambassador of Egypt to Malaysia, Mrs. Fadia Ali, and Mr. Moustafa Tahoun. The ceremony was attended by prominent industry and Government Linked Corporations (GLC) figures, including the Petronas Wells Manager, CEO of Malaysia Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), CEO of Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), CEO of Technology Park Malaysia (TPM), former CEO of Small & Medium Enterprise Corporation (SME Corp) and President of Arab Malaysia Chamber of Commerce (AMCC), Deputy Director of Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA), representatives from Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), members of the Petronas completion team, and many industry friends.
This significant capital investment marks another milestone in advancing our capabilities and infrastructure, essential for achieving our ambitious growth objectives. Our R&D team is committed to developing innovative products for upstream oil and gas wells, targeting both domestic and international markets. The new SMT Lab features an in-line semi-automated SMT assembly line and advanced testing equipment, ensuring the production and verification of reliable downhole systems capable of operating under extreme conditions.
The FADIA SMT Lab boasts a comprehensive range of capabilities, including:
- Semi-automatic solder-paste printer
- Stacker
- Automatic self-feeding pick & place machine
- 8-zone reflow oven
- Ultrasonic cleaning station
- Vacuum drying oven
- Automatic optical inspection
- Conformal coating station
- Heat testing chamber
Additionally, the lab’s Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) setup can deliver shocks up to 5,000G and continuous vibration up to 60GRMS in six axes, surpassing those commonly encountered in extreme drilling environments. The facility also includes an upgraded assembly room for preparing battery packages and assembling complete inserts used in our downhole products.
The FADIA SMT Lab will significantly accelerate the transition of new ideas from prototype to field-ready state, enhancing our capacity to innovate and meet the demands of the industry swiftly and efficiently.
