Investment in Advanced Capabilities: FADIA SMT Lab

MIT Technologies, a leading provider of downhole intelligent products for the upstream oil and gas sector, is pleased to announce the inauguration of its new SMT Lab at the company’s facility in Technology Park Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. His Excellency Gamal A. Metwally, Ambassador of Egypt to Malaysia, Mrs. Fadia Ali, and Mr. Moustafa Tahoun have officiated the event in the presence of prominent industry and GLC figures including: Petronas Wells Manager, CEO Malaysia Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), CEO Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), CEO Technology Park Malaysia (TPM), former CEO of Small & Medium Enterprise Corporation (SME Corp) & president of Arab Malaysia Chamber of Commerce (AMCC), Deputy Director of Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA), representative from Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Petronas completion team members, and many friends from the industry.

This major capital investment, taking place in Technology Park Malaysia, is another step towards advancing our capabilities and infrastructure; a requirement to accomplish our ambitious goals. Our R&D team continues to develop new innovative products for upstream oil and gas wells to achieve our growth targets in the domestic and international markets. This investment includes an in-line semi-automated SMT assembly line and testing equipment that are deployed into the production and verification of reliable downhole systems capable of operating in extreme vibration and working conditions. The FADIA SMT Lab provides a comprehensive range of capabilities including semi-automatic solder-past-printer, stacker, automatic self-feeding pick & place machine, 8 zone reflow oven, ultrasonic cleaning station, vacuum drying oven, automatic optical inspection, conformal coating station, and heat testing chamber. The company’s Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) setup is capable of delivering shocks and vibration that exceeds those commonly encountered in extreme drilling conditions. The HALT set up can deliver shocks up to 5,000G and continuous vibration up to 60GRMS in 6 axes. This new facility includes an upgraded assembly room for preparation of battery packages and assembly of the complete inserts used in our downhole product.

The FADIA SMT Lab will enable the company to turn around new ideas to a prototype and reach a field ready state in a much shorter time frame.
